My weekly Interiors Column in the Kildare Post

My weekly Interiors Column in the Kildare Post

We have all noticed how the days are getting darker and colder as we swap our light jackets for our cosy winter coats. The same principle should apply to our homes as we inject some extra layers of warmth to our décor to help us feel happy and cosy during the winter months.

Here are my Top 5 Tips on Winter Decorating to give your home some extra sparkle and warmth this Winter.

Tip 1 – Let there be Light

To add more light to your rooms, I would suggest that you might like to add a new floor lamp or table lamp for extra illumination especially in dark corners that need some extra light. You could consider swapping low wattage bulbs with brighter energy efficient bulbs to help brighten those dark winter afternoons.

Plaids and checks are another favourite for winter decorating like this sofa upholstered in this red plaid fabric by Romo available from our Aspire Design Studio.

Consider adding some winter décor to your dining table, mantle or console table with the use of soft candle light pine cones, lanterns or a floral display with evergreens etc

Antlers and Stag heads are another great décor idea during the winter months.

Rugs are another wonderful way to add some warmth to your home and a super way to instantly update your room.
