Drum Roll please as Pantone the colour authority announce ‘Marsala’ 18-1438 the New Colour of the Year for 2015.
So what does this mean for us? Well besides seeing this colour appear in nail varnish, lipsticks, eye shadows, bags, clothing and footwear, we will also see it make an appearance in Interiors across the globe.
How can you work best with this rich, earthy wine colour…well here are my Top 5 Tips on how to introduce this colour to your home.
1) On a Paint Colour for whole room for a cosy, grounded earthy feel and a rich Interior
2) As a statement on a feature wall
3) In soft furnishings such as upholstered sofas and headboards
4) As an accent colour through the use of accessories e.g. scatter cushions, vases etc
5) In Curtains and Rugs
In the words of Pantone ‘ The impactful, full-bodied qualities of Marsala make for an elegant, grounded statement colour when used on its own or as a strong accent to many other colours.’
This colour will also work great in the kitchen according to Leatrice Eiseman the Executive Director of Pantone Color Institute as she says “Nurturing and fulfilling, Marsala is a natural fit for the kitchen and dining room- making it ideal for tabletop, small appliances and linens throughout the home”
Will we miss ‘Radiant Orchid’ colour of the year from 2014? …yes I think we will but I am definitely looking forward to working with this rich, warm, earthy unifying colour ‘Marsala’.
